7/5/2008 Culbreth Reunion Comments

My name is Kathy Collins Shackowsky and I live inTampa, Fla. I am a granddaughter of Florence (Webb) and James Leroy "Roy" Culbreth and daughter to Katrine Culbreth Collins and Kyle Malone Collins. I was at the reunion this past Saturday (7/5/2008) and was thrilled to see so many "CulbrethCousins" ..... it seems so strange to actually see people that are so distant from my life but in reality actually so very close ...... I then visited and stayed with my Aunt Bobbie (Nall) along with my brother Kyle M. Collins Jr. and my son, Jordan L. Shackowsky. We went to see my grandparents (Mamaw & Granddaddy's) old place in Columbia , Rt. 2 ....... what fond and precious memories that brought back of many summers spent there ... Julie/Julia (?) granddaughter of Edward Culbreth is to commended on a wonderful job of being in charge this year and was a superb spokesperson as well .. I only wish I had a copy of the presentation ... got too busy and then the thunderstorm!!!!!! .. If any of you know how I can get one .. please let me know ! Well, I guess it is now up to the family of Roy to head up next year's reunion ..... hope to see everyone there again !!!!! Sincerely, Kathy in Tampa!!!

My gr. grandfather, Daniel D. Ragan, married Sarah Ellen Culbreth. Sarah Ellen supposedly was a daughter of Larkin Judson Culbreth but I cannot prove that. Can you help? Sarah Ellen does not show up in the 1860 U.S. Census in Larkin Judson Culbreth's family.

I have seen the note that Daniel had four children, but I have yet to find out their names.

Jesse, sorry to here you can't make the reunion, maybe next year. I'm staying in Donalsonville, for the purpose of trying locate some old Family. I plan on dropping by Steve's folks house Friday afternoon before the fish fry. I'm so looking forward to meeting everybody. I'm still looking for information about James Daniel Culbreth my G-Grandfather. I don't have proof, but I think he is the son of Marshall Washington Culbreth brother of Larkin Judson Culbreth. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks!

It keeps me in touch..I'm Jesse Alexander Culbreth's oldest great grand child..Scott Alexander Davis...my grandmother was Minnie Maude Culbreth(Ginn-Ginn to me)...mom is Priscilla Smart Davis. Thanks for the mailer/invite to Culbreth reunion...unfortuanately, we will be out of town on a family vacation, but we will be sending our prayer and best wishes on to our kin folks...Scott

Just some thoughts!

Got an e-mail from a new cousin in Georgia, he plans on being in Alabama for the Reunion, will be coming in on Friday afternoon and probably dropping by Mom & Dad's on the River Road. Gene has been searching his family tree and added his line to our tree over the past few months. Look forward to meeting him. I think we have two other families that will be joining us too, from Florida and Georgia. Had an e-mail from John this week, I hope he get's to come to the reunion, although I know the trip will be long and hard for him. Maybe it will be good medicine. It's almost midnight here and the bad weather has passed, think I'm going to try and get in bed at a decent hour tonight, have some more to add to the web page, will do it in a day or two.
